Objectives
The package was implemented within the framework of the Project “Developing a Circular Economy Model in Medical Plastic Waste Management”, signed between Winrock International and the Center for Health Environment Research and Development (CHERAD), with the aim of concretizing the tasks and solutions for implementing the National Green Growth Strategy and Action Plan in the healthcare sector.
The key elements of green growth in the healthcare sector include: (i) minimizing environmental impacts through safe medical waste management and reducing carbon emissions generated; (ii) using water, energy and materials economically and efficiently, while increasing the use of recyclable or environmentally friendly medical materials; (iii) developing sustainable healthcare infrastructure; (iv) strengthening public health, with a focus on preventive healthcare programs and the development of telemedicine services; and (v) promoting education and environmental protection awareness in healthcare-related activities.
Activities
Services implemented:
- Review the context and international experience in green growth in the healthcare sector; summarize and integrate the content into the draft Action Plan;
- Compile and systematize comments on the draft Green Growth Action Plan for the healthcare sector from departments, ministries, sectors and various stakeholders; advise and support the Health Environment Management Agency (VIHEMA) – Ministry of Health in providing explanations and guidance for revising the draft Plan based on the compiled comments;
- Coordinate with and support VIHEMA in finalizing the Plan and developing the explanatory report for the Green Growth Action Plan of the healthcare sector.
