Workshop “Industrial symbiosis in VSIP Bac Ninh Industrial Park”: Connecting and promoting collaboration opportunities
Within the framework of the Project “Scaling up the Eco-Industrial Park approach to promote a Circular Economy in Viet Nam”, the Workshop “Industrial Symbiosis in VSIP Bac Ninh Industrial Park” will be held on 19 August 2026 at VSIP Bac Ninh Industrial Park.
The workshop aims to raise awareness and strengthen enterprises’ capacity on industrial symbiosis, while providing a forum for relevant stakeholders to exchange views, identify potential collaboration opportunities, and gradually develop practical implementation plans.
Technical sessions will be delivered by representatives of the project office, experts from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and experts from the Vietnam Cleaner Production Centre Co.Ltd. (VNCPC).
In parallel with the workshop, the Project will conduct a survey and collect information from enterprises in the industrial park to support the assessment, evaluation, and preparation of pre-feasibility study reports for potential industrial symbiosis opportunities.
Industrial symbiosis – from individual opportunities to shared value
Industrial symbiosis is one of the key elements in the transition from traditional industrial parks to eco-industrial park models. By strengthening connections among enterprises, resources such as raw materials, by-products, waste, energy, infrastructure, and services can be exchanged, shared, or used more efficiently.
At the workshop, experts will introduce the concepts, benefits, and different forms of industrial symbiosis; share methods and tools for identifying opportunities; and present practical experiences from Viet Nam and other countries.
In particular, enterprises will directly discuss industrial symbiosis opportunities already identified in VSIP Bac Ninh Industrial Park, assess their level of priority, explore directions for developing action plans, and propose additional opportunities with potential for implementation.
Survey of industrial symbiosis opportunities in VSIP Bac Ninh Industrial Park
From 15 to 30 August 2026, the Project will conduct a survey of enterprises in VSIP Bac Ninh Industrial Park to collect information for the assessment, evaluation, and selection of industrial symbiosis opportunities with implementation potential.
The survey will focus on opportunities for material and waste circularity; sharing of energy, logistics, warehousing, infrastructure, and selected common services; while also identifying enterprises’ needs, readiness, and barriers to participating in industrial symbiosis. The survey results will provide a basis for further in-depth assessment of opportunities with practical implementation potential.

The workshop and survey activities will help identify potential industrial symbiosis opportunities in VSIP Bac Ninh Industrial Park. Suitable opportunities will be further assessed and gradually developed for practical implementation. Through these activities, the Project contributes to more efficient resource use, reduced environmental impacts, and the transition towards an eco-industrial park model.
